Byalee Briar is an amazing opportunity to acquire a highly sought-after European pedigree - Bjorsells Briar 899 was the world's number one dressage breeding stallion for five consecutive yeas!
Now rider Jan Brink has chosen the Briar son Biggles as his next international GP horse. Briar 899 has won numerous international medals. He has eight different breed society approvals, and has sired no less than five approved sons with two winning Sweden's national stallion tests scoring 10s for rideability and gaits.
He is famous for a quote from Olympian Kyra Kyrkland, who said: "I would give my soul for this horse."
On the dam line, Byalee Briar is out of a Bernstein mare. Bernstein is a Swedish warmblood stallion, sire of many approved stallions, again with a pedigree that has proved itself in the ranks of Grand Prix in Europe and the US.
Bernstein also sired Madonna, the winner of the national Swedish finals for four-year-olds, and won the Breeders' Trophy for 5- and 6-year olds. He was himself stallion of the year in dressage in Sweden in 2001.
Together these bloodlines have now produced what we expect to be one of the most exciting young stallions to be brought into Australia.
Byalee Briar has a soft, regular trot, he has inherited Briar's incredible uphill canter with strong shoulder and knee action, and shows that ever-essential correct walk.
Under saddle, he is a laidback chap with an unflappable kind of temperament who is simply a joy to ride. He can be ridden by teenagers and recently scored just under 70% for a 4th placing with an 18yo pony clubber on board.
Byalee Briar's first foals are on the ground now and are proving themselves to be little champions! The first palomino colt, Byalee Believe, was sold at the age of one week - but unfortunately died of EI just 4 days later. Other foals have been sold in utero. His first palomino filly was sold to New Zealand.
Byalee is thrilled to be able to offer these wonderful bloodlines live in the Southern Hemisphere. As a bonus, Byalee Briar is a palomino, with the colour dating back eight generations of Swedish warmbloods.

Magini in turn sired famous young stallion Maistic, bronze medallist at the World Young Horse Championships.
A COLOURFUL NOTE:
All you need to know about the dam line
Many stallions have a great sire line. This one boasts almost more on the dam line than the famous Briar line with a star-studded line-up!
Byalee Briar is out of Florine, by Bernstein, a Swedish warmblood that scored even higher than Briar 899 on paces and temperament at stallion testing. Bernstein's dam (Bristol Cream) and grand-dam are both elite mares and Bernstein has sired many approved stallions including Bayron 885, Bolero 897 (FEI at 7yo, at stud in the US), Ravell 959 and Eros. Bristol Cream's last foal was Baccarach (Don Schufro), approved stallion standing in California.
There are many successful horses by Bernstein including Mr Bean (GP) ranked No 8 in Ridsport (Sweden's major horse magazine) in 2004 (scoring more than 64% at international GP), Goldstein (GP) No 10 in the same ranking, Charlstone (GP) and Erbe (GP in the United States).
Bernstein is also the sire of top intermediare performers Garcia, Helix and Red Butterfly. In the ranks of young horses, Bernstein has produced, among many, Madonna, the winner of the national Swedish 4yo finals, and won the Breeders' Trophy for 5- and 6-year olds.
