‘Take the Mickey’ is a lovely bay warmblood gelding. Mickey has a lovely temperament and trainability that makes him wonderful prospect for an ambitious young rider. Mickey was broken in just 18 months ago. Mickey has moved up the grades in Eventing to have successfully completed his first couple of 1* level events. Mickey scores well in the dressage, is bold and trusting on the cross country and show jumps well. Mickey was recently lent to a 15yr old for the Pony Club Nationals. They won the Tetrathlon National Championship. Mickey is by Michaelo and is one of his few progenies as tragedy cut short his life. Michaelo is by Magritte who was campaigned in Australia by dressage rider Emma Youngman. Magritte and Emma were in the final Olympic trials for the Athens Olympics in 2004. Michaelo’s dam line carries serious jumping lines in Sky High who was the Australian Show jumping Champion with Chris Chugg and Polaschnee who was a fabulous show jumper with Olympian Vicki Roycroft. Mickey is out a lovely mare, Angel, who was sourced by the famous veterinarian Alan Simpson and brought to Howard Smyths attention. Howard used Angel as a foundation mare and her progeny have been fantastic. Take the Mickey is “a genuine loving character, heaps of top-level potential, bold and careful, a pleasure to train and will be hugely missed”.
