Costa Rica is a superb gelding with wonderful jumping genetics. Costa is exceptionally bred being by Contenda who was a 3* (old 2*) level eventer with Shane Rose. Contenda is by Contendro I who is currently the number 1 ranked Eventing sire in the world. Costa’s dam Skye has already produced Devil Wears Prada currently jumping with Eva Rasmussen winning the Amateur show jumping Championships at Tamworth earlier this year. Sky High was the Australian Showjumping Champion with Chris Chugg. Polaschnee was a fabulous showjumper with Olympian Vicki Roycroft. Costa originally was ridden by an amateur rider and has now done the miles with a professional rider the last 2 years. He is easy to jump maintaining a beautiful rhythm and is confident over 1.15m. Costa has exceptional flat work, with all laterals and aids in place, his softness, suppleness and wow factor movement would make him very competitive in the dressage arena. Costa is soft and quiet to ride, with more ‘whoa then go’ and he would be suitable for a capable junior or equally as much fun for an adult rider. While Costa has primarily competed in the jumping arena, I would suspect with his beautiful movement he would tick the boxes for a lot of Eventer’s out there, or even the dressage riders. Costa has the potential to go a lot further. He is a potential star!
