Avoca Marcus is a true gentleman with the dashing looks to match. Marcus is a Clydesdale-cross/Anglo Arab who is the result of an interesting breeding program developed by Leanne Williams during the past 15 years. Leanne and her Clydesdale-cross horse Avoca Black Saint trained through the levels to Grand Prix dressage 30 years ago where they achieved wonderful success. Avoca Matilda, on the sire line of the pedigree of Marcus, is a full sister to Avoca Black Saint and formed the basis of this breeding program of Clydesdale-cross dressage horses. On the dam line, Little Miss Em was a 15.1hh pocket rocket who competed successfully at advanced dressage before retiring to full-time motherhood. Her forte was her medium and extended work, where she consistently scored 9s. Marcus has been brought on slowly using exclusively classical dressage training techniques, which have allowed him to mature into the magnificent horse he is today. Marcus is well established in the walk, trot, canter and has commenced his training of the lateral movements, counter canter and the beginnings of flying changes, which are well on the way to being consistent. Marcus is currently competing novice level, regularly achieving scores of over 60%. Marcus would suit most riders. He has the potential to be a serious competition horse or the potential to be a great mate. Both would be best!!
