Top of the Morning R (Topsy) has already produced our next superstar young colt, Drumming R, by De Niro. We always meant to produce Topsy and explore her potential, however, we are so time poor and somehow Topsy keeps getting not prioritised. The good thing about that is that she has been brought along very gently and we have taken our time. She has magnificent paces and from the little bits we have glimpsed, we suspect she has jaw dropping talent. We are, however, about to throw everything we have at her son Drumming R and at the moment giving Topsy a fair go is going to be difficult, hence her being here in the auction. Topsy’s dam line is, of course, the best we have. When we bred Topsy, the Totilas semen had only just become available and Topsy cost us $27,000 to get on the ground. Ouch! She was supposed to be a black stallion. Topsy did make it up to us and gave us a black De Niro colt. To check out Topsy’s bloodlines go to Drumming R on our website or in the catalogue. Topsy has three really good paces and at times will naturally slip into passage. She has the most fantastic back. Topsy has a very even contact with the bit and has a super-sweet nature. We are taking her out for her first competition in the preliminary classes before the auction. You will hear if we win the class but quite frankly a first outing is simply about the experience and confidence. This may well be an Olympic mare.
