Josie R is the mother of numerous outstanding foals including Royal Jive R, sold for $15,400 at the 2012 Gold Coast auction and Frederico R, who is currently campaigning with Dean Ryan who hopes that this will be his mount for the 2020 Tokyo Para Olympics. Josie R is a magnificent type of mare with huge elastic and airborne paces. Josie R is by Jive Magic who won the Sydney CDI Grand Prix in 2010. Josie R is out of Anky who in turn is by the FEI stallion Ilkay. Ilkay is in turn by Variant. The Dutch sire Variant is also in the dam line of Valegro who was the individual gold medallist at the London Olympics in 2012 and again the gold medallist at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. It does seem that this Variant bloodline has been until now overlooked. Argentille Ilkay (imp, dec) actually does have himself a really good strike rate of producing Grand Prix dressage horses from very limited opportunity. Josie R is in foal to MSJ Nemo who combines the genetics of the gold medallist in Valegro (same sire, Negro) from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics ridden by Charlotte Dujardin and the silver medallist in Weihegold (granddam Fernia full sister to Don Schufro who is the sire of Weihegold) ridden by Isabell Werth. MSJ Nemo is possibly the best bred young dressage stallion in the world today! What a package!!
